Our History

SULO Talbot is a partnership between two award winning plastic injection moulding companies, SULO MGB Australia, located in Sydney Australia, and Talbot Plastics, located in Christchurch New Zealand.

The partnership between the two companies commenced in April of 2008 with the commissioning of a new manufacturing facility for a variety of waste and recycling containers including Mobile Garbage Bins, commonly known as wheelie bins. The construction of the company offices, in a building formerly used by Fisher and Paykel, and the installation of the production machinery took just over three months.

At 2:08am on Friday 1 August 2008, SULO Talbot manufactured its first MGB. The facility now operates on a 24 hour 7 day week basis.

SULO Talbot commenced commercial production with a landmark order from Christchurch City Council for over 450,000 MGBs for a new 3-bin collection service that commenced in early 2009.

On the 3rd of October 2008 the SULO Talbot building was offically opened by The Right Honorable Helen Clark, Prime Minister of New Zealand, with the official plaque being presented to Michael Huston, Managing Director of SULO MGB Australia and Steve Wilson, Managing Director of Talbot Plastics.

Our Facility

Located in Manukau City, SULO Talbot’s newly assembled production facility utilizes state-of-the art injection moulding equipment with the ability to manufacture a variety of waste and recycling containers.

The facility contains two fully automated modern-designed Husky Injection Moulding machines and includes an online dual lid hot stamping machine, allowing products to be easily customized during production. The SULO Talbot facility boasts two of the largest injection moulding machines in New Zealand.

Our Process

SULO Talbot is one of many companies that are known as Polymer Processors. By international standards the polymer processing industry in New Zealand is relatively small, however it is an extremely important part of the manufacturing industry.

Polymer processors are manufacturers that take virgin raw materials and convert them into finished products for the consumer. SULO Talbot has the ability to process both virgin and recycled material into a range of waste and recycling containers.

The machinery that SULO Talbot use to convert the raw material into a Mobile Garbage Bin is called an injection moulding machine. This machine is a complex device that uses hydraulic operating systems to drive the various parts.
